Project Overview
Kevin J. O’Brien is a seasoned trial lawyer and partner at Ford O’Brien Landy LLP, based in New York City. He is a former Assistant US Attorney for the Department of Justice and specializes in white-collar criminal defense, commercial and securities litigation on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, regulatory enforcement cases, and arbitrations. Throughout his career, he has tried over 25 court cases and numerous arbitrations to a verdict.
The Problem
Kevin approached Otter PR seeking public relations and media coverage for himself as a way to further establish his expertise in white-collar law, providing commentary and legal analysis for cases of that kind, as well as to give his thoughts on current trending topics in the legal world. His primary goal with PR was to gain placements in general circulation outlets and legal publications that would be able to reach a wide audience.
The Strategy
Kevin’s PR goal required our team to formulate a media strategy that included not only digital publications, but also television, podcasts, radio, as well as traditional print publications such as industry-specific journals. Working in very close collaboration with Kevin, our team provided his commentary on current white-collar cases — ones either approaching trial or currently on trial — to top-tier legal and general circulation publications as Kevin suggested.
Business Impact (results)
One of the most prominent successes Otter PR has generated thus far was a television interview on BBC World News in which Kevin provided commentary on the Elizabeth Holmes verdict. Shortly after this interview, we were able to secure him a subsequent placement in Bloomberg Law regarding the Elizabeth Holmes trial, as well.
Following these interviews, Kevin reported a distinct growth in his online presence and brand awareness, as shown by his continuous placements in top-tier publications boasting high domain authority ranks. We have since been able to secure Kevin as a contributor with Westlaw/Reuters where he will write articles providing legal analysis and commentary, which will further establish him as an expert in his field of practice. These opportunities will continue to build brand-awareness and help Kevin’s name rise to the top of the list regarding trial lawyers in the country.
