Tim Murphy is the CEO of APX Operating Company (d.b.a. Boomers! Parks). Murphy helped the private equity firm, Cerberus, acquire the assets of Apex Parks Group for Boomers! and Big Kahuna’s.

Boomers! Parks (a.k.a. Boomers) is a chain of family entertainment centers (FECs) which feature indoor activities such as carousels, kiddie swings, restaurants, musical shows, and video game arcades. Its outdoor activities include offerings such as miniature golf, kiddie rides, bumper boats, batting cages, go-karts, kiddie roller coasters, and laser tag.

The Problem 

The COVID-19 pandemic has permanently affected virtually every aspect of the hospitality industry. As a result, family entertainment center (FEC) and theme park industry leaders are struggling to find ways to keep their businesses afloat and successful as they continue navigating this new normal. 


While the world continued to reopen and return to a sense of pre-pandemic normalcy, many within the FEC and theme part industry — which has historically relied on face-to-face customer interaction — still struggled to recuperate, attract new guests, and keep them coming back.
